About

Find My Fiduciary was created by Ryan R. Morrissey, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, CMFC®, a fee-only financial advisor with over 24 years of experience helping clients navigate the journey to and through retirement. Over the years, after witnessing the many pitfalls’ people face when choosing the wrong advisor, Ryan was compelled to write the book Fiduciary: How to Find, Hire, and Establish an Aligned and Trusted Partnership with a Fee-Only Financial Advisor.

While continuing to offer fee-only financial guidance and writing his book, he came to a striking realization: information about who is — and who is not — a fee-only financial advisor is not easily accessible to the public. This discovery was surprising, especially given that working with a fee-only advisor can mean the difference between being sold unnecessary financial products and receiving the prudent, unbiased advice clients truly need — a theme he emphasizes both in his book and in his daily practice. From that realization, a new mission was born: to build a platform where individuals planning for — or already in — retirement can connect with advisors who have taken the fiduciary oath and are committed to working for their clients, not off them.

Vision

Our mission is to help you cut through the sales pitches and find the Fee-only advisor who aligns with your values, understands your goals, and has the tools to give you the guidance you seek.

How a Financial Advisor can be of service to you:

Financial Planning

Financial planning is the process of evaluating your current financial situation, defining your short- and long-term goals, and creating a personalized strategy to achieve them. It typically includes budgeting, saving, investing, tax planning, insurance review, and retirement planning. A good financial plan helps you make informed decisions, reduce financial stress, and stay on track toward building a secure and fulfilling financial future.

Investment Management

Investment management is the professional handling of your financial assets—such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds—with the goal of growing your wealth and meeting your financial objectives. It involves creating a diversified portfolio based on your risk tolerance, time horizon, and goals, then monitoring and adjusting that portfolio as market conditions and your life circumstances change. Effective investment management balances risk and return, aiming to maximize long-term growth while aligning with your overall financial plan.

Education Planning

Education planning is the process of helping clients prepare financially for future education expenses, most commonly for their children or grandchildren. A financial advisor can work with clients to estimate future education costs, explore savings options like 529 plans or custodial accounts, and build a strategy that fits within their broader financial goals. The goal is to reduce the burden of student debt and ensure that funding education doesn’t come at the expense of retirement or other priorities. With the right planning, this will turn a major future expense into a manageable, well-structured investment in your family’s future.

Tax Planning

Tax planning is the process of organizing a client’s financial affairs in a way that minimizes tax liability while staying compliant with current tax laws. A financial advisor works with clients to identify opportunities for tax efficiency through strategies such as maximizing deductions and credits, managing capital gains, optimizing retirement account contributions, and timing income or charitable giving. Thoughtful tax planning helps clients retain more of their income, reduce surprises at tax time, and align their overall tax strategy with their broader financial goals.

Estate Planning

Estate planning is the process of preparing for the management and distribution of a person’s assets after death or in the event of incapacity. A financial advisor helps clients clarify their wishes, minimize estate taxes, and ensure that wealth is transferred efficiently and according to their intentions. This often involves coordinating with attorneys to establish wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Effective estate planning provides peace of mind, protects loved ones, and helps preserve a client’s legacy across generations.

Retirement Planning

Retirement planning is the process of preparing a client financially for life after their working years. A financial advisor helps clients define their vision for retirement, estimate future income needs, and develop a savings and investment strategy to support those goals. This includes evaluating retirement accounts, Social Security benefits, healthcare costs, and withdrawal strategies to ensure income sustainability throughout retirement. Thoughtful retirement planning provides clarity, confidence, and a roadmap for achieving a financially secure and fulfilling retirement.
